In 2003, the National Do Not Call Registry was established to give consumers an opportunity to limit the number of telemarketing calls they receive.
Consumers have money to spend and telemarketers have products to sell—that’s why they contact you. Elections are no different — voters hold valuable votes and campaigns have a candidate or issue to sell. And that’s why they call, email, mail, knock at your door and overtake television and radio airwaves during every election.
Unfortunately, the Do Not Call Registry does not apply to candidates or campaigns.
The IAV Initiative works with campaigns directly to reduce the number of unnecessary political advertisements sent to those that have already voted — consider it like a Political Do Not Call List. After all, it’s in their best interest to not waste a dime on a voter that’s already voted.
The best way to notify all the campaigns in one easy step is to voluntarily inform them, “I Already Voted” via our website. Once you’ve voted in an election and submit your information, we’ll work with all active campaigns in your area to reduce or stop the political ads headed your way. We can’t promise everyone will listen, but we’ll certainly do our best.
The IAV initiative also works to produce early exit polls and reduce voter fraud by identifying irregular voting habits and helping to ensure your vote is counted.
